Identifying and automatically diagnosing BIOS/ACPI issues for a better BIOS / Linux experience.

Abstract

BIOS and ACPI bugs are all too common and can be difficult and time consuming to diagnose and fix. This talk covers common BIOS/ACPI issues found in enabling Linux on PC hardware and how this knowledge has been distilled into an automatic firmware testing tool.

    Biography

    Colin is currently working for Canonical as an OEM kernel engineer sorting out hardware enablement issues and trouble shooting BIOS/firmware issues.

    2000-2008 worked for Philips Electronics working on ARM and MIPS Linux set top boxes and digital TV and porting software GPS to ARM9266 Linux mobile phone. Also researched the feasibility of porting Linux 2.2/2.4 to VLIW media processors.
