Handling of digital audio links in ASoC
*One Line Summary
Discussion of how to handle digital audio sources outside the CPU
Abstract
With the shift in baseband processors away from analogue audio interfaces to digital, increased support for digital audio mixing in CPUs and CODECs and the growing range of tunneled MP3/AAC/whatever decode hardware we need to handle digital audio links that don’t go directly to the CPU. Currently ASoC can’t really cope with this, we need to agree on an approach to handling such links which works well for all the involved devices.
