Survey of what licenses are actually in the kernel, beyond GPLv2/GPLv2+.

Abstract

This BOF will examine at the Linux kernel using current tools (FOSSology, etc.) to analyze the licensing inside the kernel itself, and illustrate what’s there and detectable beyond the GPLv2 and GPLv2+ licenses we all expect to see.

Discussion of the corner cases found by the analysis, and some of the current trends emerging in reporting licensing and copyrights will be discussed, as well as the open source tools available to assist with package analysis.
