Travel

The Hyatt Vineyard Creek in Santa Rosa, CA is about an hour and a half drive north of San Franscisco just off of Hwy 101.

Local Airports

Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport (STS)
San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
Oakland International Airport (OAK)

STS is the closest airport, but it is a small airport with few flights into it. Horizon air does offer flights from Seattle, Los Angeles, Portland and Las Vegas. For most people, it will be easier to get a flight into SFO and either drive or take a shuttle bus.

Rental Car Ride Sharing

For those of you who will be flying into one of the airports and renting a car, we’ve set up a rental car ride sharing page on this wiki.  Please add your details as a Renter

If you wish to share a car with one of the renters, please add your details as a Passenger.  Unless the Renter says otherwise, please do no more than three passengers per renter.

Bus from SFO

Sonoma County Airport Express operates a shuttle from SFO to a drop off point at the Double Tree in Rohnert Park. A one way fare is $34, and a round trip ticked is $66 if ordered online. The Double Tree is just south of the Hyatt, and there will be a shuttle service between there at the Hyatt. Note tickets do not include a reserved seat on the bus. Please allow enough time to make your flight if your preferred bus is full!

Shuttle bus to and from Hyatt

The shuttle bus from the Airport Express dropoff point to the Hyatt and back will be running frequent trips between the following times:

  • Tuesday: 10AM-6PM
  • Friday: 3PM-8PM
  • Saturday: 9AM-1PM

Driving directions from San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

If you choose to rent a car, it will take about 1.5 hours to drive from SFO to Santa Rosa (depending on traffic).

Follow the signs for I-380 when leaving the airport. Take exit 5A onto I-280, the Junipero Serra Freeway and follow it Northbound to the Golden Gate Bridge and Highway 101. Santa Rosa is 50 miles north on highway 101 and it is approximately a 1 hour drive from the Golden Gate Bridge. Take exit 489 and turn left onto 3rd street, and left again onto Railroad St. The Hyatt Vineyard Creek will be immediately on your left, and the Marriot Courtyard will be on your right.

Other options from San Francisco

Golden Gate Transit provides bus service from the San Francisco area to Sonoma county. Some lines run directly to the Santa Rosa transit center on 2nd and B streets, just a few blocks from both the Hyatt and Marriott hotels. See the link for trip planning and fare costs.

More travel instructions can be found on the Hyatt Vineyard Maps and Directions page.

Social Events

We’ll be in wine country, and there are lots of things to do in and around Santa Rosa. We’re planning to host evening events during the conference, but attendees are also invited to explore the area. The hotel is putting together a list of nearby activities and places to see, and we’ll update this page as we get them. If you want to stay a few days before the conference, or a few days after, then we can help organize group activities outside of the events hosted by the conference. Watch this page for further information.
