One Line Summary

What sort of control planes do we want for GENEVE?

Abstract

The current GENEVE implementations in the kernel (OVS and netdev) are not particularly interesting as-is. There is little available beyond unicast point-to-point links, and there is far less flexibility than what is provided by VXLAN.

What functionality do we want for GENEVE? Leave it as it is? Matching VXLAN’s features? Or something beyond? Do we want to wait for standardization? Or innovate on our own? How so?
